Interior design in black-and-white color scheme never goes out of fashion. This elegant combination of two opposite shades looks stylish and can not please! The lack of brightness in this simple duet doesn’t make the atmosphere boring and it doesn’t seem too strict and never looks inelegantly. Psychologists say that black and white colors have an amazing effect on the human psyche. White, supplemented with a black color, doesn’t cause boredom and are not associated with a hospital, and black on a white background doesn’t perceive gloomy and isn’t depressing.
Although, black-and-white color scheme has only two tones, there are so many variations of this coloring. It can be strips, resembling a zebra or a piano; spots, that are similar by something with the coloring of predators or cows; abstract patterns and stencil drawings with one color on the background of another. Both tones will participate equally in the color scheme or only one color will dominate – the variants are even more than two! Nothing interferes to design different parts of the premise in different ways; the result will be always successful.
For this modern two-level apartment located in Poland, black-and-white color scheme was chosen almost at once. The homeowners adore concise things and don’t like to focus attention on details. The first floor is fully occupied with the living room, dining room and kitchen. Glossy snow-white cupboards and tabletops are used as kitchen furniture. Such solution helped to lighten the area, remoted from the window, and visually enlarge small space, allocated for the kitchen. The apron is made in black-and-white ornament – it didn’t allow the kitchen to merge into one mass and emphasized beautifully the functional zone.
The black dining table looks stylish and solidly. Dark items always seem to be smaller; therefore the dining table doesn’t overload the room. White chairs, surrounding the table, shade the darkness. With the same purpose snow-white lamps were placed over the dining area.
A comfortable wide staircase leads to the second floor. But we shouldn’t think that such bulky construction takes inexcusably much space. Stair steps are at the same time spacious wardrobes, in which the owners keep numerous things. Doors don’t have handles, so when they are closed, nothing gives away hidden inside wardrobe.
In a small cabinet, the designers refused using glaring whiteness and added black colors with light grey. It should be noted that the setting lost nothing from it. Well thought-out lighting increases visually this small space. If it is necessary, the light intensity can be adjusted.
In a small bathroom, the space is enlarged with the help of mirrors and reflecting surfaces. Black and white palette looks here very amazing.
