The Pole Pass Retreat residence, constructed by the Olson Kundig architect bureau, is located on the San Juan Island in Washington state (the USA). It is built right on the seashore and offers panoramic views on the Salish Sea and neighboring islands; the manor also borders with the dense forest.
The house was especially created for a calm retreat in the bosom of the family; it unlocks the maximum of own potential in summer, when it becomes possible to fully open the pavilion with panoramic windows and enjoy staying outside. Thus, the interior and nature become a unified whole, whereas the spacious terrace twofold enlarges the residence`s space. There is only one bedroom in the house, yet it has an additional Pullman bed. The interior`s warm tincture is put up against the harsh façade`s finishing which is made of steel and dark siding.
