The project bureau Delvendahl Martin Architects has transformed two townhouses into one house for a family in Oxford, the United Kingdom. The central staircase of beautiful wood was the key-element in combining of two residences in the Victorian style. The space of the new building seems continuous thanks to the symmetrical arrangement of the rooms. The nice loggia opening on the backyard has an access only from the living room and kitchen. It was designed of materials contrasting with the main part of the residence to emphasize the novelty of the design. Nevertheless, a strong visual connection between the old and the new wasn’t lost and the loggia has always been there. In addition to this, all the built-in furniture, most of fixtures, doorknobs and even handrails have been designed by the architects specially for the project.
