The private house Hillsden in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, was renovated by the project of Lloyd Architects architectural studio. It was built in 1940 and that is why it had been completely restored and expanded. The house is located in the ski resort – at the foot of the Wasatch Range with lots of woods. The owners, the married couple with two children, wanted to build a cozy house surrounded by such a unique and beautiful nature like here where they can come to relax and enjoy the fresh mountain air. This small wooden house of 280 square meters was built in a traditional shape for these places with three simple pediments and cornices.

The house is sheathed with siding that imitates boards. Modern decoration material makes the building is not only resistant to all weather conditions, but also keeps heat inside very well. The interior is made in the Scandinavian style with warm colors. Open and bright spaces are filled with freshness and lightness. The house is well heated by the wood-burning stove. Also, cozy living room decorated in a minimalist style is located in the center of the house.

White walls and ceiling, a minimum of furniture and decor elements are effectively supplemented by wood-beamed ceilings in the selected style that become interior decorations. Modern fireplace warms the room and creates cozy atmosphere where owners can feel themselves close to the nature enjoying the scenery through large panoramic windows. There is also the access to the garden and patio from the kitchen and bedroom. This is the perfect place for spending time with the family admiring marvelous landscape, especially in summer when the courtyard looks like a Japanese garden.
