Lovers of countryside and natural simplicity will definitely appreciate the house in Cuenca, Ecuador. It was called Shape Loma because of its wedge-shaped roof. The house was built in compliance with national traditions. The outside walls were plastered with a red clay, which protects the house from a hot equatorial climate. Gable roof of semi-circular tiles copes even with the tropical showers. Famous architect Iván Andrés Quizhpe has decided to restore the old building.
Glass partitions replaced the walls around the courtyard that lets guests to admire the amazing pond and fountain outside. Moreover, now sunlight illuminate the living and dining areas all the day. Well-preserved terracotta floors became one of the main decoration of the living room. The traditional local materials were mostly used in exterior. As for inner space, it is a mixture of modern styles. For example, the kitchen with its polished marble, glass stainless steel and a clear geometry forms is a great representative of techno style. The living room with the warm wooden interior and natural forms of the furniture was designed with the features of national style. Shape Loma distinguishes by its harmonic combination of traditions and modernity. Therefore, the house attracts with its unusual beauty and cosiness.
