Jarmund/Vigsnaes Arkitekter bureau has created a cottage for writers at their courtyard, located at the suburb of Oslo (Norway).
The clients wanted to have the place with a beautiful surrounding view, providing the possibility to privatize own life and concentrate on work. In order to put their wish into life the small building`s northern façade was made of glass. Such approach provided good natural illumination of working space. The desk, located close to the transparent walls, might have partially obstructed the view from the window; therefore this furniture item was made totally of glass.

It is necessary to mention that the building is higher from the southern side. Such designer`s solution allowed to place a window here, which is located above the neighbors` fence, letting the direct sun light through. Unusual shape of the house is the result of wide and lower northern part`s transition into the higher and narrow southern part. Apart from working zone there is a comfortable place for reading and mezzanine with a plywood ladder. This ladder is suitable for books storage as well.
