The architects of Y+M Design office company have developed rather unusual construction of 142 sq. meters, intended for a family of four. The house is located in Oda (Japan) and looks more like a football stadium stand.
The Portuguese Alvaro Liete Siza implemented the similar project several years ago. Yet his building called Casa Tolo in direct and metaphorical sense is based upon the landscape and occupies the whole stepped stone hillslope. The building of Japanese architects doesn’t use peculiarities of the landscape, yet is organized according to the same principle.

What is the result of work of Y+M Design office`s professionals? First of all, it`s a picturesque façade, which differs the house from the neighboring objects. Secondly, it`s the opportunity to create a garden on the exploited roof. Thirdly, it`s a cozy terrace, which is an addition to the main premises and is a favorite playground for the youngest family members.

The space between the “steps” of the façade, faced with ceramic tiles, is covered by glass tiles, due to which the interior is always filled with the sunlight during the day. The internal space of this house is pointedly full of natural wood. Thus, heavy rafter constructions of the bed were left in shell condition. The first floor contains the space for kitchen-dining room, which is the living room at the time. The second floor locates bedrooms, playrooms and bathrooms.
