Unbelievable House On the Mountain Slope Overlooking Mediterranean Sea, Spain

Please welcome incredibly original architectural construction, located right into the mountain`s slope, which was developed by architects from design studio called GilBartolome Architects. It is hard to believe, yet in fact this isn`t a dragon`s face but two-story house for a young couple. It was constructed on the seashore, on parcel of land with 42 degrees’ inclination. According to the architects, the main task was “to build a house on the difficult parcel and insert it naturally into the surrounding landscape”. The main materials used are concrete and glass. Concrete was the basis for monolithic carcass, external fences and staircase creation, while all walls and upper balconies were created of glass panels. Panoramic glazing provides maximum of daylight and allows to constantly enjoy outstanding Mediterranean view.

All internal space of the house is located inside the slope, there is only a wave-shaped roof outside, having fanciful bend and covered with zinc-coated roof tile.

There is a living room on the first floor; the shapes of this room follow the shapes of mountain`s slope. It has an entrance to the terrace with a swimming pool. The second floor accommodates two bedrooms with balconies, designed to increase the sense of “life on the seaside”.

The house complies with modern principles of energy-saving: all utility systems were created with a view to further energy saving. Location of premises inside the cliff allows to effectively use underground warmth. Thanks to such approach the temperature in all rooms is constant during the whole year and is about 20 °C.
