“Broken” is the name of outstanding and unusual furniture, made of planks, which were broken in two. Its creator is a famous Finnish designer Jalmari Laihinen aka byJalmari. This collection fascinates with unique aesthetics of wood fracture, ragged edge and protruding thinnings, which stand in contrast with glazed and smooth surfaces of habitual modern furniture. Demonstration of this exact contrast was the main designer’s aim. With this work he presented the new type of furniture, which isn`t glazed and shining but is stylish and quite attractive at the time. Notwithstanding the fractures of wood pulp and seeming fragility, the “Broken” furniture is rather reliable and functional as well as incredibly creative and unusual.
