The house called Hillside Residence is located in Austin (Texas) and is made in the form of two buildings, conjoined with a glass passage. One of them is a reconstructed bungalow, being here before, whereas the second one is a new construction, created by Alterstudio Architecture studio. Together these two buildings create balanced a combination of black and white, yin and yang, despite that they are rather different externally. Each of the buildings has its own unique trait, yet the house looks rather natural, as a whole.
All internal structure of the old building remained intact after the repair; however, there appeared new designer’s solutions, which provide comfort and coziness to the dwellers. There are three big bedrooms here. The external finish is light in this part of the building; such color makes it modern and organic. The glass passage unites the old building with the new one. It is higher, has an unusual shape and may seem somber and weird.

However, once you enter inside, this impression will dramatically change. Light tinctures of walls in combination with wooden elements stand in stark contrast with dark interior. Various large windows provide maximal sunlight penetration inside the premises. Dormers, located in the roof, allow enjoying the starry sky. There are glass sliding doors here leading to the courtyard with azure-water swimming pool and a place for the family to rest.
