Jessica Helgerson Interior Design studio has introduced the project called “Tiny House” and located not far from Portland, the USA. The founder of the company has been spending vacation with her family here during the last few years. The old cottage was carefully renovated and readjusted in accordance with the owners` preferences. This small country residence justifies its name as it has only 50 square meters. The designers decided not to enlarge the house, but to reorganize the interior, having made it more functional and open. Thus, the living room, kitchen and dining room were conjoined into one cozy room, which could be used for guests` accommodation as well. The ceilings in the bathroom and children`s room were lowered down in order to set parents` sleeping place underneath. It is possible to get there with the help of a simple ladder of a nut wood. Storage places are made to be as effective as possible and are represented by rollout shelves and wardrobes. They are placed at the most suitable zones. New large windows are often used by children as the entrance into the house. The new roof is seeded with moss and fern. The designers used natural materials of local origin in order to save money and keep the feeling of simplicity and coziness. At the same time the owners have created the garden with fruit trees and berries around the house. They also planted vegetables, took hens, bees and start making farmer chees of a milk from the neighbor`s goats and cows.
