Architectural firm Brooks + Scarpa has designed the private house Yin-Yang in the Western of Los Angeles, California. The residence is made with the accent on the daylight and close relationship with the environment. Its main purpose is to accommodate family with the children. The main project’s features are peaceful atmosphere, openness and functionality. The living space is organized around a series of patios and terraces which are an integral design part. The residence seems restrained and too close from the roadside. Moreover, it seems one-story and limited in size on the other side. Actually, two-story house is spacious enough. The kitchen with the large workspace has occupied the center part of the house because its owner is a famous chef. Bedrooms are small in order not to give family members to be alone for a long time and urge them to communicate more with each other. In addition, there are also breakfast room, dining room, guest room and playroom. All of them are decorated with natural and sustainable materials based on modern energy technologies.
