Secluded “oasis” for a family rest, projected by Salmela Architect studio, is located on the western coast of Lake Superior in Herbster, Wisconsin (the USA). Currently the house and surrounding area provide all necessary for a good outdoor rest, despite the cold climate of this place. The house has special location, thus the main window demonstrates beautiful view on the lake and surrounding forest. The northern façade locates a terrace overlooking the field with herbs and flowers. The upper floor contains two double-level rooms, the living room and opened veranda, which may be used for sleep during the warm season. At the same time it also protects the main entrance from the downfall.
The interior consists of big amount of wood, creating warm atmosphere, as well as the fireplace at the living room. The external finishing consists of black composition on the basis of resins, combined with cedarwood. These materials avoid the need of technical maintenance, and this is a real advantage. There is also a wood rack and sauna near the house.
