During several millennia a fireplace has been constantly changing and improving. Nowadays designers make active use of ideas of the past and make modifications in them according to the modern tendencies.
Fireplace is the oldest element of human`s dwelling.
Fire, surrounded by the stonework, was a prototype for a modern fireplace. The fire’s smoke came out through a special opening in the roof. With the course of time the fireplace’s construction became more sophisticated and advanced. The fireplace became the core interior element in halls of knights` temples as well as in the houses of the European aristoi and kings` palaces.
Moreover, a fireplace gained an aesthetic aspect as a cultural phenomenon. It was decorated with love by bolection moldings and mosaics, spires and frisos, faced with marble, beautified by hammered grating of an ingenious work. Nowadays in order to decorate a fireplace and surrounding zone designers searched for ideas in the past and use traditional stylistic, or generate its modern interpretations.
