Capdell, the chair and table producer from Valencia, Spain, attended the Salone del Mobile 2016 with new products designed by Szpunar Studio from Poland, Vicente Soto from Spain, Kazuco Okamoto from Japan and Claesson Koivisto Rune from Sweden.
For almost 50 years, at CAPDELL we see chairs and tables as a globally designed product. They must not only be stylish, but also satisfactorily perform their function of a piece of furniture, pass ergonomics and resilience testing and, furthermore, look attractive and in line with the times. We address interior design professionals, inspiring them with products created in the same way they design their projects.
We are aware of the need to be environmentally friendly and we have been working with renewable raw materials for years, such as timber from sustainable, PEFC-certified forests with controlled logging. Moreover, polypropylenes —fully recyclable— and other materials such as varnishes and lacquers are specifically chosen so as to produce minimal environmental impact.
For us, trust and close collaboration with the designers are essential in order to provide a quality product. Our motto is to always look for the perfect fit between concept and production processes.
The best ideas always come after a long process of work and reflection: investigation and thought first, then creation. That is why we encourage everyone to follow our tried and tested method: sit down, think, imagine.
Belk, a Nordic feel
Design by Szpunar Studio
The Belk collection was designed by Poland’s Szpunar Studio. Pure beech wood, powder blue upholstery and an innovative series of bands securing the seat’s cushion in place. A clean design giving a Nordic feel, with two types of chair available: the classic and the lounge version.

Belk enhances the natural elegance of wood and its workmanship, a collection of chairs with extremely clean lines and a Nordic feel.

The seatback, available in beech wood or upholstered, is a perfect and comfortable support for the back and is separate from the bottom of the chair. The seat cushion is attached using an incredibly distinctive arrangement of visible bands, acting as a contrast and an original decorative motif.

The collection includes two types of chair: the dining chair and the lounge version which is wider and more comfortable.

Birdie: the wings of creativity
Design by Vicente Soto
Expressive freedom and new languages inspired by nature. Birdie is a beechwood chair collection inspired by bird wings. This inspiration is visible in the shape of the body, which is a single elegantly-curved wooden piece.

The collection expresses the essence of Capdell: a combination of high technology and skilful craftsmanship that interprets and enhances materials, in particular wood.

In Birdie, the warmth and natural beauty of wood comes to life in the beechwood version of the chair. There are also more technical models available with a thin body made of curved wood, a metal base and armrests which make the whole structure more slender.

Cloud: light and soft
Design by Kazuco Okamoto
Evocative, fresh and light like a cloud. These are the new stools by Japanese designer Kazuco Okamoto which feature a slender metal base and seat, reminiscent of the lightness and softness of the clouds.

His unique original and playful style comes to life in these striking, slender stools.

The metal base is composed by a willowy game of vertical lines and by the circular footstool, which is the stabilising element of the stool. The shapes of two circles come together to create the upholstered seat which conveys a soft, airy and comfortable sensation. The reflection of the stool on the floor reminds us of a cloud.

Cloud is available in different colour combinations and in two different sizes.

Light, ethereal and very chic
Capdell presents an important collection of tables with a pure, stylised design. The main feature of this collection is the subtle but sculptural morphology of the elegant legs that support a very thin table top. Refined elegance that removes mass and leaves the essential, suitable for any space.

A digital classic
The design of the legs, in anodised aluminium, is the result of digital morphing, the fluid, gradual and endless transformation of a circle and a triangle. The result is a sculptural form inspired by Italian classics like Superleggera by Gio Ponti and by the most rigorous elegance of Scandinavian wood furniture from the ’50s and ’60s.
